Unless you live in the Lower Rio Grande Valley or south of Corpus, along the coast, don’t expect to see much, if any rain over the next 7 days, and possibly longer. High pressure is anchored over us, and unlike last week, even with a soon to be tropical system off the Pacific coast of Mexico, mid-level winds out of the north will keep most of the moisture to our west from this system. As of post time, there is only a tiny chance that some of the moisture could move into our far western counties early next week.

Speaking of the tropics, there is now a 20% chance that a tropical something could form over the next 7 days way out in the Atlantic. While I will continue to watch this tropical wave, the likelihood of it impacting Texas is near zero as of today.

Temperatures will run close to normal for mid-September with lows in the 70’s and highs in the 90’s.

On a positive note, western New Mexico and Colorado will be seeing 1-2 inches of rain over the next few days, thanks to a strong low pressure moving in from the Pacific. Our part of the world is suffering through a drought that is almost as bad as what we are seeing in south-central Texas.
