She’s Back!

Just what we didn’t want to see from the Climate Prediction Center: “A transition from ENSO-neutral to La Niña is likely in the next couple of months, with a 71% chance of La Niña during October - December 2025. Thereafter, La Niña is favored but chances decrease to 54% in December 2025 - February 2026.”

As we all know, while you can’t always predict La Niña winters, according to NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center, La Niña winters typically bring below-normal precipitation to southern Texas, with temperatures trending above average…just what we don’t need to see after our never-ending drought! Speaking of drought, I have the latest drought update in the graphics below.

Continued hot and humid for the next 7-10 days with rain chances limited to far south Texas. The tropics remain oddly quiet, despite very warm sea surface temperatures in the Gulf. As of post time, there is a tropical wave near Africa that has a 30% percent chance of becoming a storm over the next 7 days.
