Drought update and monthly rainfall totals.

Since there will be no rain today and tomorrow, I decided to lump our monthly rainfall totals with the drought update. On a positive note, we have certainly seen a shrinking of drought conditions…on a negative note, rainfall odds and totals are very low for the next couple of weeks as high pressure continues to dominate our state. While the high will vacation in the west this week, our only chance for rain will come Saturday night and Sunday as a cool front takes a dive southward. As of post time, this looks like a very scattered event with very low rain totals. No help from the tropics, thanks to El Niño, as most activity so far this summer has stayed in the Pacific instead of the Atlantic, as forecast.
