I had to rub my eyes to make sure I was seeing clearly as I looked at the latest 7day rainfall forecast from the NWS! Instead of the usual slate white, there is actually a lot of color on today’s map.

Warm and dry through tomorrow, then the first round of rain moves in Wednesday night and Thursday as a trough digs in to the west and a dryline spawns a line of thunderstorms that will drift to the SE overnight. Some of these storms could reach severe limits, but primarily in our NW counties. Depending on how far SE the storms go, quite a few of us could see quarter to an inch of rain from round one. Unfortunately, the best odds from the first system will stay north of a Del Rio to San Antonio line.

Heads up for a potentially cool and rainy Easter…here is the latest update from the NWS: “A powerful upper-level low will take shape over the northern Rockies allowing for a strong trough to dig southward over Texas on Saturday. A cold front associated with this storm system will move through our region bringing the best widespread chance at rain for the region since the 1st week of March. Much cooler air along with lingering showers is expected Sunday with highs in the 60s. Cool air lasts through the end of this forecast period with highs in the 60s next Monday as well.”

The latest CPC outlooks continue to look promising with better than 50/50 odds for above normal rainfall for the next two weeks!
