Radar is pretty active this afternoon with scattered PM Poppers over much of SW Texas and the coastal plains, in response to a stationary front in north Texas. Some of the storms may drift as far north as San Antonio, Del Rio and Austin, but for the most part they will stay to the south of HWY 90 and I-10 east. We will see more of the same over the next 24hrs until high pressure moves back in on Thursday and Friday, squelching our afternoon storms. So far, the highest rainfall total I have seen today has been near Goliad, with 0.89 inches.

On Friday, a more robust front will start drifting into Texas from the north, increasing our rain odds…especially for the Hill Country and our northern counties. As of post time, this front will move as far south as our northern counties of south Texas before going poof by Monday. There will be chances for rain on late Friday through Labor Day, with the best odds coming on Sunday. We may see another front and additional rain chances later next week as well.

Nothing is brewing in the tropics and none of the latest model runs (even the GFS) are forecasting any potential storms for the next 10 days.

As always, if you win the rain lottery today, please share your totals and where your backyard is located!
