Drought and ENSO update…
2-12-26. 2pm This Update is brought to you by Dietz Mclean Optical Company. www.dmoptical.com As a family-owned business, our independence, in house lab, great customer service and eyewear warranties, allows us to tailor your eyeglasses, lenses, and fittings: we want you to only expect the best after working with us. Continued warm temperatures with 80’s making an appearance again this afternoon. A trough and associated cool front will give us a chance for showers on Friday night, then a chance for thunderstorms on Saturday as the front moves through. I have included a NAM radar forecast animation and how much rain the latest NBM model thinks will fall from Friday through Saturday. As I have mentioned most of this week, the best odds for rain and better rain totals will be along and north of HWY 90 and east of I-37. The very best rains will stay in north Texas.
The latest drought update is out and an even greater percentage of our area is now in “Extreme Drought”. Much of the USA is currently in drought and the latest “percentage of normal rainfall” graphic shows that much of the USA has received less than 50% of their normal rainfall since January 1st. A pattern change will be helping the west, but not us in the short term.
The latest ENSO forecast predicts us going into a neutral pattern soon, then eventually El Nino by the fall...this would be great!
