Happy Juneteenth!

Thanks to some excellent rainfall totals in the Hill Country and San Antonio area over the past 30 days, we have finally seen some drought shrinkage! Unfortunately, as we move into late June and July, average monthly precipitation starts to drop below 2 inches for many spots in south-central and south Texas. Unless we see an early tropical system, our drought conditions are likely to expand again over the next 45 days. Far west Texas continues to suffer from exceptional drought conditions, but their monsoon should start kicking in by next week, so relief may be on the way for them.

Continued mostly dry for the next week for us, except far south Texas and along the coast, thanks to an inverted trough and a tropical moisture plume moving in today through Saturday. As I mentioned yesterday, most of the models are ramping up our rain odds near the end of the month…I’m hoping this trend continues!
