Here comes the Hell High!
5-10-25. 11:15am. This Update is brought to you by Sedley's Grass Fed Beef. Sedley's Grass Fed Beef is a family-owned farm to table beef cattle operation located in western Gonzales County roughly 50 miles east of San Antonio and 70 miles south of Austin. www.sedleysgrassfedbeef.com
Another slight chance for some wildly scattered poppers today as we enjoy the last couple of days of mild weather before our infamous Hell High comes to visit next week! Meteorologically know as an 850mb thermal ridge, the Hell High will build in from Mexico starting on Monday and be firmly in place by Wednesday, leading to potentially record highs of 105-110 degrees across our area. The heat tempers a tiny bit by late next week, but average temperatures will remain above normal for at least 7-10 days. Our next chance for rain really doesn’t come until after May 20th.
On Friday, the CPC updated their ENSO forecast: “Synopsis: ENSO-neutral is favored through the Northern Hemisphere summer 2025 (74% chance during June-August), with chances exceeding 50% through August-October 2025.” As I have mentioned in the past, this could give us a more active hurricane season for both the Pacific and Atlantic this summer…good for the SW monsoon (including far west Texas) and for us.
