Another day of some extreme rainfall totals…fortunately most of the heavier rain did not hit in the Kerrville area where bodies continue to be found along the Guadalupe River. As of post time 43 people have died as a result of the Friday floods and many are still missing, including 27 children from Camp Mystic.
Seguin saw over 8 inches of rain yesterday and parts of Comal County recorded over 6 inches. The Austin area recorded rainfall totals of over 4 inches. Here is a link to 24hr rainfall totals for south-central Texas from the NWS: IEM :: PNS from NWS EWX and here are 72hour rainfall totals: IEM :: PNS from NWS EWX. Check out Burnet County’s totals…almost 21 inches of rain up there!
Even though our mesoscale convective system is weakening, there is still enough added moisture to our atmosphere to give us a chance for more isolated heavy rain today, mainly in the Hill Country and our northern counties.
From the NWS: There remains a threat of flash flooding from slow moving heavy rains today somewhere over the watch area:
Difficult to pinpoint exact locations where isolated heavier amounts will occur
An uptick in coverage and intensity of scattered showers and storms is possible late morning through the afternoon in the watch area, especially from Central Texas into the Hill Country.
As of post time, the latest forecasts suggest rain chances will finally dry up by Tuesday…we shall see!
How much rain has fallen at your place over the past few days and where?
