With all of the recent rains, and not much weather to talk about, let's discuss mosquitoes! If they haven't attacked you yet, they will!
For the next week, look for a typical summer pattern of hot steamy days and warm nights. An inverted trough will spark some pm poppers along the coast, but for most of us, almost zero odds for rain. Some of the models are looking more bullish for rain towards the end of the month, but given we are still over 10 days away, I’ll wait to get my hopes up!
I’ve posted a graphic from an interesting site called “My Perfect Weather”. Depending on how you define your favorite temperatures, south-central Texas has 200-250 comfortable days per year, vs south Texas, that has only 150-200 days. Of course, if you want over 300 days, move to the west coast, where few people can afford to live! Explore USA Weather Patterns and Discover Comfortable Places
Nothing brewing in the Atlantic, but if you are planning a trip to Acapulco, Mexico this week, there is “soon to be Hurricane Erick”, on course to impact the west coast of Mexico on Thursday. With high pressure over us, none of Erick’s moisture will impact Texas.
On a completely different subject, things are super dry out where I live and fire danger is high as we wait for our monsoon to kick in around the last week of the month. At my 8000 ft elevation in Pagosa Springs, CO we dropped to 32 degrees yesterday, but ended up with a high of 87 degrees...that's a 55 degree spread in temperatures! If we had started off at 62 degrees for a low, we would have hit 117 degrees...glad that was not the case!
