A second day of Rainfall Roundup!

While most of the area did not see rain yesterday, we had another round of rainfall lottery winners as storms formed in the Hill Country, then tracked SW. Bexar County was ground zero for the strongest storms with some rainfall totals over 2 inches and several spots experiencing damaging winds. Other than a few scattered storms along the coast today, most of us will stay dry and hot for the next few days as high pressure builds back over us. By early next week, here is what the NWS is saying in regard to our rain chances: “Rain chances come back to the Coastal Plains on Monday afternoon as increased moisture associated with an upper level inverted trough reaches the east Texas coast. The combination of increased moisture with the sea breeze could bring isolated to scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms. By Tuesday afternoon, the upper level high shifts to the northeast into the middle Mississippi Valley and allows the local area to receive increased moisture from the Gulf as the inverted trough pushes over South Central Texas.”

There are a couple of blips in the Gulf and Atlantic, but both potential systems only have a 20% chance for development in the next 7days. The latest Euro model is bullish for decent rains to return around the 9th, while the latest GFS is forecasting almost zero rain through that time period. I’ll be rooting for the Euro, but time will tell!
