The latest San Antonio-Austin NWS forecast discussion sums up next week’s weather well!
“Key Messages: - Medium (30-60%) daily chances for rain and storms early through middle of next week. Occasional strong to severe storms and isolated pockets of heavy rainfall will be possible during that period. Temperatures become slightly lower and closer to climatological averages next week.”
Starting next week, SW flow aloft develops, allowing several disturbances to move through during the week from Mexico. On top of that, a front will likely go stationary on Wednesday along a Del Rio to San Antonio line, increasing our rain odds even more. As usual, the models are having a hard time with this scenario because a lot will depend on how far south the front progresses before going stationary. As always, I urge everyone looking at the model runs not to get either overly excited or depressed at this point. This will be a week of convective storms, so as we saw last night, surprises of a good kind will be possible starting on Sunday afternoon through Friday!
