It’s showtime!

Our slow moving front to our NW will be interacting with our moist surface air, setting the stage for a good chance for rain starting tonight through Monday. Don’t get to focused on the latest rainfall forecasts from the models…there are still a lot of questions about how fast the front will move through the state tomorrow. If it stalls for a few hours at any one location, more rain will fall on that area than is being forecast. Even after the front passes, there will be disturbances from the west that will continue our rain chances through Monday. One great thing about this weekend’s rain will be that the SW counties along the Rio Grande actually have better odds for rain than eastern counties. Here’s what the NWS is saying: “The return of rainfall paints a broad area of 1 inch forecast rainfall amounts throughout South Texas, though areas along the Rio Grande will have the greatest chances for 2-3 inches of rainfall given the more convective nature of storms and due to slow-moving storms. Any rainfall in our region would be a welcome site given the on-going long-term drought and while this event is not one that will see major improvement, what it will provide is a quenching of soil moisture.”

Severe storms are possible, so please keep your NOAA weather radios and emergency apps turned on for your specific location. Easter will be cool, cloudy and windy with a chance for rain. Highs are expected to only reach the 60’s. We won’t have to wait too long for our next chance for rain which arrives next weekend.
