Despite an inverted trough moving west across the Gulf and a cool front that will take a dive into NE Texas over the weekend, our rain chances are pretty wimpy as of post time. Looking at the latest model runs, even our northeast and eastern counties will have a hard time recording 1/4 to 1/2 an inch of rain. As we move past the weekend, look for mostly dry conditions to continue for at least another week.
On a pleasant surprise note, dry air over our region last night lead to some surprisingly end of July low temperatures with some high 50's reported in the Hill Country!
The tropics continue to be on vacation with absolutely nothing brewing for at least another week.
From Weather Proverbs, by George Freier.
“Count the number of cricket chirps in 14 seconds, add 40, and you have the temperature in degrees Fahrenheit.”

Cool to see some 50's for lows this morning!
