Our exciting May and June continue! As our current rain event winds down, the low pressure that came up through northern Mexico from the lower Gulf is now forecast to become a tropical depression or even a storm by tomorrow. While the coastal plains and coast could see some more hefty rainfall in the next 24hrs, most of us will see only scattered activity as the low pressure starts moving NE into the Gulf, then hug the coast. Here’s the latest from the NHC: “The disturbance (AL90) that we have been tracking for several days across the southern Gulf of America into northeastern Mexico has moved into southern Texas. While the system is producing plentiful convection, it still lacks a well-defined center. However, most of the guidance suggest that it will move offshore tonight, and winds will increase to tropical-storm-force on Wednesday. Thus, advisories have been initiated on Potential Tropical Cyclone One, and Tropical Storm Watches have been issued for portions of the Upper Texas and southwestern Louisiana coasts.”

Most of us recorded 1-3 inches of rain from this system, but as always, a few unlucky folks fell into the “under an inch” category. Another rare cool front will move south into our area on Friday, giving us another chance for rain for Friday and Saturday. As of post time, rain totals look less than what we saw over the past three days.

If you have a three day rainfall total, please feel to share it along with your location!
