Happy Weather Mom’s Day! My mom certainly fell into that category and when she retired, we started making annual weather bets that made the year quite entertaining!

The latest short range models are looking more positive that a line of storms will move through not only south-central Texas, but likely to move into south Texas as well. Take these storms seriously, as high winds, lots of lighting and hail are possible. There is currently a Severe Thunderstorm Watch issued for most of central Texas until 9pm. I would imagine that a new watch will be issued later today for our area.

Here is the latest from the NWS, with graphics below: “This evening into early Monday morning a cold front will move across the area bringing showers and thunderstorms. The Storm Prediction Center continues Level 1-3 Risks for severe storms. Portions of the Austin area are within the Level 3 Risk. San Antonio is in the Level 2. Damaging wind gusts (possibly greater than 75 mph) and large hail are the main threats. Locally heavy rain is possible with isolated totals up to 4 inches. The main line of storms could move into our northern counties by 5 pm. Please note the New Braunfels (KEWX) radar is down and will be through the event; utilize neighboring radars for coverage.”
