Hot, humid, with a chance for severe storms…

4-23-26. 4pm This update is brought to you by Davy Ranch Supply. We have an extensive supply of fencing materials including barbed and netting wire, t-posts, cedar and treated posts, brace and twist pipe, staples, clips, and welded panels. We also stock 7 different types of medium and heavy-duty gates ranging in length from 4 ft-20 ft. We sell galvanized portable panels and 24 ft free-standing pipe panels, too. We have concrete and poly water troughs in various sizes along with a selection bunk and hay feeders. www.davyranchsupply.com

We will be locked in on a typical late April and May pattern of cloudy nights with a chance for fog and drizzle in the mornings, followed by steamy afternoons with partly cloudy skies. There is a chance that if the atmospheric cap breaks on Friday and Saturday, we could see a few scattered severe storms during the afternoon. On Friday, if they occur at all, it will likely be in the green zone (graphic below), mainly our NE counties. On Saturday, the best odds will be our western counties, in response to a dry line over west Texas and Mexico.

The latest models are hinting at a rain event in around a week…we will look more into that tomorrow.

Our latest drought map is out and it shows some slight improvements, especially for the Hill Country. Because the data ended on Tuesday, I’m not certain the heavy rain around San Antonio was used in their calculations this week…we will see if next week’s map shows even more improvement. While we all need more rain, the month of April has actually been wetter than normal for our entire area as seen in graphics below. Hopefully we will continue with decent rain chances as we move into the month of May!
