OK…we need everyone’s help! Our upper-level low continues to take a more northerly track and we need everyone to break out their ropes and move the low more south on Wednesday and Thursday!

While most of us will still see some much-needed rainfall, the latest model runs continue to lift the track of the low pressure further north, dropping our rainfall totals and moving the best odds for rain north of HWY 90 and I-10 East. The one interesting thing about this system is odds for some severe storms is increasing for Wednesday night and Thursday…very unusual for January.

Look for continued chances for drizzle and fog ahead of the system, then a possibility for thunderstorms Wednesday night and Thursday. Temperatures will remain cool through Wednesday (40’s-60’s), then rise into the 70’s Wednesday-Friday. Best odds for rain will be Wednesday night-Thursday. The rain moves out by Friday and next weekend looks great with lows in the 40’s and highs in the 70’s.

As far as another arctic outbreak…as of this post, I’m only seeing a minor chill down around the 8th of February, but I’ll continue to monitor the long-range models!

Move that low! AI by Mark

Our upper-level low is forecast to take a more northerly track than earlier forecast. The low is currently over southern CA as seen in this water vapor imagery.

The best odds for severe weather will be in the northern Hill Country and central Texas from Wednesday-Thursday.
