Happy Valentine's Day! ❤️
Our yo-yo weather continues, with some arctic air thrown in for fun next week! In the short term, look for a foggy, drizzly start for many areas tomorrow morning, followed by a warm and sunny afternoon as a mild Pacific front comes through during the afternoon. Our first dose of arctic air arrives tomorrow night, dropping our lows into the 30’s and 40’s (with wind) on Sunday morning, then down into the 20’s and 30’s for Monday morning (freezes likely in the Hill Country). We yo-yo back into the 60’s for highs on Monday and Tuesday, before our next chunk of icy air moves through on Tuesday night. Next Wednesday will stay cold (40’s) even under partly cloudy skies, then look for teens and twenties for lows on Thursday morning and 20’s and 30’s for Friday morning.
As of post time, chances for any wintry precipitation are close to zero for next week, so unless the models change their minds, we don’t have to worry any ice issues.
On a totally different note, I’ve posted the latest drought graphic from yesterday and the latest La Niña update below. The latest forecast is for us to shift into Neutral by March and stay in Neutral through most of this year. Neutral patterns don’t occur very often and are hard to predict just what will happen as far as rainfall goes.
FYI: We finally got a big snow in SW Colorado today…10 inches of powder!

Should be a fun week at HEB!
Forecast lows for next week! Click on images to see them larger.
We will continue to trend colder than average for the next 10 days.
La Niña conditions are expected to persist in the near-term, with a transition to ENSO-neutral likely during March-May 2025 (66% chance).
10 inches of fresh powder today in Pagosa Springs, CO and 16 inches for the mountains, which can’t be seen because of the clouds!
