High pressure is in control!

High pressure is in control this week, keeping our temperatures 10-15 degrees above normal and erasing any chances for rain. A series of troughs will impact the SW this week, ushering in lots of Pacific moisture along with cold air that will produce some big snows and blizzard like conditions for the mountains. Unfortunately, our high pressure will block these troughs and keep us warm and dry all week. A seasonal dry front will arrive early Saturday, cooling our lows back to the 40’s and dropping our highs into the low 70’s. Winds are expected to gust to over 30mph with this front, so we could see a red flag warning issued for fire danger.

I’m still not seeing any decent rain event or arctic air on the horizon and the latest CPC outlooks in today’s graphics reflect that in their forecasts.
