Here comes the heatwave!

OK…no changes in our soon to happen heatwave. We will see not only daily record highs broken this week, but a good chance of seeing all time record highs set for the month of May. If there is any good news, it’s that our afternoon humidity readings will be in the 20% range for most areas, making the apparent temperatures a couple of degrees lower than the actual temperatures. The worst of the heat will be this week, but temperatures will still be 10-15 degrees above normal even into next week.

Long-range models are still forecasting a chance for a rain event or two by the end of the month, likely between the 20th and the 31st. I’ve posted three long-range models below, just to keep us a little less depressed about our upcoming heatwave and dry spell!

PS: I’m currently out in Las Vegas, where temps have been in the upper 90’s the past few days. During the Texas heatwave, a front will move through here, lowering our highs into the 70’s and 80’s starting tomorrow!
