Because this is south Texas, anytime we get into a situation like we are having this week, if anyone claims to know exactly how the weather is going to play out, “Forget About It!” As of post time, the models continue to change their minds with every new run. The only thing I feel very positive about is that it will continue to stay cold and turn wet, starting late Wednesday-Friday. The best odds for experiencing freezing rain and snow will be along and north of a HWY 90 line, from Del Rio to San Antonio. Due to their higher elevation, the Hill Country has the best chance of not getting above freezing from Wednesday night through Friday morning and the best chance for seeing a mix of snow, sleet and ice. The very best odds for seeing snow will be from Rocksprings to Junction, in case you want to spend a few nights in that area…driving will not be a good idea on Thursday and Friday.

Meanwhile, most of us saw a freeze this morning and temperatures will likely be even colder tonight with dewpoints in the teens and twenties right now. Current temperatures are still mainly in the 30’s and 40’s as I work on this post at 1pm.

Stay warm!

Mark
